Getting Started

The basics — what Tbox actually is and how it fits into your car.

What is the Carlinkit Tbox?+
Tbox is a standalone Android box that plugs into your car's existing wired CarPlay USB port and replaces the CarPlay screen with a full Android operating system. That means you can install real apps from the Google Play Store — Netflix, YouTube, Chrome, and more — directly on your car's display, while still being able to switch back to wireless CarPlay or Android Auto whenever you want.
How is Tbox different from a regular wireless CarPlay adapter?+
A standard wireless adapter only converts wired CarPlay to wireless — nothing more. Tbox does that too, but it also runs its own Android system underneath, giving you a full app ecosystem, video streaming, navigation, and games layered on top of CarPlay and Android Auto. Think of a wireless adapter as removing a cable, and Tbox as adding an entire second operating system.
What do I need in my car for Tbox to work?+
Your car needs factory-installed wired Apple CarPlay (or wired Android Auto, on supported models) and a USB-A port. If the CarPlay icon already appears when you plug in an iPhone, your car is very likely compatible. USB-C ports also work, but you'll need a USB-A to USB-C converter cable.
How do I install and connect the Tbox?+
  1. Plug the Tbox into your car's CarPlay USB port and wait for the boot screen to appear.
  2. Turn on your phone's WiFi and Bluetooth, then connect to the Tbox's Bluetooth signal (named "AutoKit-xxxx").
  3. Confirm the pairing prompt on your phone and select "Use CarPlay."
  4. After the first connection, your phone reconnects automatically every time you start the car — no cables, no repeating the setup.
Is Tbox difficult to install myself?+
No. Tbox is a plug-and-play USB device — there's no dashboard disassembly, wiring, or professional installation required. Most people are set up and pairing their phone within a few minutes of unboxing.
02

Choosing a Model

Which Tbox is right for your car and how they compare.

Which Tbox model should I choose?+
It depends on what you want out of it:
ModelBest forKey spec
Tbox Plus CPC200Best all-round performance for the priceQualcomm 8-core, Android 13, built-in GPS
Tbox Max (Ambient)Drivers who want ambient lighting synced to musicAndroid 13, ambient LED accent
Tbox UHDFamilies with backseat passengersAndroid 13 + HD video output for a second screen
BMW Multimedia AI BoxBMW ID6–ID8.5 owners onlyAndroid 10, SIM-only internet
What's the difference between the Tbox and the Tbox Plus?+
Tbox Plus is an upgraded version of the original Tbox. It carries a more powerful Qualcomm 8-core chip, delivering nearly double the speed with fewer stability issues, and runs the newer Android 13 system instead of the original Android 9.0.
What's the difference between the USB and non-USB versions?+
The USB variant adds an extra USB port on the device itself, so you can plug in a USB flash drive, wireless keyboard, or mouse — useful if your car's screen isn't touch-enabled and you need an alternative way to navigate the Android interface.
Is there a difference between black and white color models?+
No — black and white units are identical in hardware and software. The color is purely a cosmetic choice.
What's the difference in storage between models?+
Most Tbox models are available in 4GB+64GB or 8GB+128GB configurations. The larger option is worth it if you plan to install many apps or store offline media; most users streaming Netflix, YouTube, and navigation apps do fine on 4GB+64GB.
03

Compatibility

Vehicle, phone, and head unit compatibility details.

Does Tbox work with both iPhone and Android phones?+
Yes. iPhone users get wireless CarPlay and Android users get wireless Android Auto. Either phone can also provide a mobile hotspot for the box's internet access, or you can choose a model with a built-in SIM slot instead.
Will Tbox work with an aftermarket head unit like Pioneer, Alpine, or Kenwood?+
No. Tbox is built for cars with factory-installed wired CarPlay. Aftermarket head units from Pioneer, Alpine, and Kenwood aren't supported by this product line — a different adapter category is needed for those units.
Does Tbox work with BMW or Tesla?+
Standard Tbox models aren't compatible with BMW or Tesla. BMW owners need the dedicated BMW Multimedia AI Box, purpose-built for BMW's ID6 through ID8.5 CarPlay systems (unavailable on 2-Series 7-seat, 2024 X1, and 118i). Tesla requires a separate wireless CarPlay adapter designed for Tesla's platform.
How do I know if my exact car model is supported?+
The simplest check: plug your iPhone into your car's USB port with a data cable. If the CarPlay interface appears on your car's screen, your vehicle has factory wired CarPlay and is very likely compatible. Tbox supports the vast majority of major brands with factory CarPlay from roughly 2016 onward, including:
AudiBMW*BuickCadillacChevroletChryslerFordGMCHondaHyundaiJaguarJeepKiaLand RoverLexusMazdaMercedes-BenzNissanPorscheSubaruToyotaVolkswagenVolvo
*BMW requires the dedicated BMW Multimedia AI Box, not the standard Tbox.
What if my car isn't listed?+
Tbox supports the majority of vehicles with factory wired CarPlay and a USB-A port, but coverage is continually expanding based on testing and customer feedback. If you don't see your model listed, contact support with your make and year and we'll confirm compatibility or notify you when support is added.

SIM & Internet

How Tbox gets online, and what a SIM slot can and can't do.

Do I need internet access to stream Netflix or YouTube on Tbox?+
Yes. Tbox needs internet access to stream video, the same as any Android device. You can connect it to your phone's hotspot, or choose a Tbox model with a built-in 4G or 5G SIM slot for an always-on connection that doesn't rely on your phone's data.
Can I use a SIM card in the Tbox to make phone calls?+
No. The SIM slot in Tbox models is for internet/data access only — it can't be used to make or receive phone calls.
Will using Tbox drain my phone's mobile data plan?+
Only if you're using your phone as the internet source via hotspot. Video streaming can use meaningful data, so if you stream often, a Tbox model with its own SIM slot is worth considering — that way your phone's plan and battery aren't affected by hotspot use.
Does the SIM card need a specific carrier or plan?+
Any SIM plan that supports mobile data should work in the SIM-equipped Tbox models. Check with your carrier about data-only or IoT SIM plans if you want the most cost-effective option for a dedicated in-car device.
Can I use WiFi instead of a SIM if my car doesn't have onboard WiFi?+
Yes. Tbox has both WiFi and Bluetooth hardware built in — it connects via Bluetooth for the initial handshake, then transfers your phone's WiFi hotspot credentials automatically and switches entirely to WiFi for data transfer.
05

Streaming & Apps

What you can actually run and watch once Tbox is connected.

What apps can I install on Tbox?+
Since Tbox runs full Android with Google Play access, you can install nearly any Android-compatible app: Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, HBO Max, Spotify, Google Maps, Waze, TikTok, Chrome, and Android games — the same catalog available on an Android phone or tablet.
Can I listen to the car radio and use CarPlay at the same time?+
No. Tbox is activated through your CarPlay information channel, which takes over your car's playback system — the same way you can't use the car's FM radio while regular wired CarPlay is active. You'll need to exit CarPlay/Tbox mode to return to the built-in radio.
Can I browse the internet on Tbox?+
Yes. Since Tbox runs a complete Android system, you can use the Google Chrome browser (or any other browser app) as long as the box has an internet connection through a WiFi hotspot or SIM data.
Can I mirror my phone's screen onto the Tbox display?+
No. Tbox is a full Android system in its own right, not a mirroring tool — you can't cast your phone's screen into it, the same way you can't cast an iPhone screen onto an Android device.
Can I play locally stored videos or music from a USB drive?+
Yes. Tbox includes a built-in media player, so you can load a USB drive (or TF/SD card, depending on the model) with video and music files and play them directly, no internet connection required.
Does Tbox support GPS navigation apps?+
Yes. Every Tbox includes a bundled GPS module, so navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze work directly on the Android side, in addition to Apple/Google Maps through CarPlay or Android Auto.
Can I operate Tbox from my steering wheel controls?+
This depends on your vehicle. If your steering wheel and joystick controls work with your car's regular wired CarPlay, the same controls typically carry over to Tbox. For vehicles where the screen isn't touch-enabled, a USB-model Tbox with a connected wireless keyboard or remote is a good workaround.
06

Setup & Firmware

Updating, configuring, and fine-tuning your Tbox.

How do I update the Tbox firmware?+
Connect your phone to the Tbox's WiFi network, then enter 192.168.50.2 into your browser's address bar. If an update is available, tap it and wait for the progress bar to reach 100%. CarPlay will reappear on your screen once the update completes.
Do I have to re-pair the Tbox every time I start my car?+
No. Once paired, your phone connects to the Tbox automatically every time you start the car — no manual reconnection needed.
How do I switch the display language?+
On the Tbox connection page, tap the globe icon in the bottom-right corner to choose your preferred language.
If I have two phones, which one will Tbox connect to?+
You can use either paired phone, but if both are in the car at the same time, Tbox connects to whichever one paired most recently.
What do "Speed," "Fluent," and "Compatible" modes mean?+
These are display performance modes available in some settings menus. Speed mode uses a 60FPS hard-decoding solution for the smoothest visuals, Fluent mode uses 30FPS hard decoding, and Compatible mode uses a 24FPS soft-decoding solution for older or less powerful car screens that struggle with the higher frame rates.
What are the microphone options, and when should I change them?+
By default, Tbox uses your car's built-in microphone for calls and voice commands. If your car's microphone isn't compatible or doesn't work reliably with Tbox, switch to the box's own built-in microphone in settings instead.

Troubleshooting

Common issues and the fastest way to resolve them.

Why does wireless CarPlay keep disconnecting?+
Most disconnects come down to one of a few causes:
  • Confirm your phone's WiFi and Bluetooth are both on, with no access restrictions blocking the connection.
  • Re-pair the phone: forget the Tbox's Bluetooth/WiFi name on your phone, then reconnect from scratch.
  • Use a short, high-quality USB cable — avoid USB hubs or cables longer than 80cm.
  • Restart your phone if the issue persists after re-pairing.
My wired CarPlay keeps dropping when connected to Tbox. What should I check?+
Make sure you're using an original or MFi-certified data cable. Then go into Tbox's advanced settings and set charging mode to "weak" — this disables phone charging over the cable, which often resolves intermittent drops caused by power fluctuation.
The Tbox and car keep disconnecting from each other. How do I fix it?+
Check your car's USB protocol version and set it to 2.0 if there's an option. Also check the USB extension cable — it shouldn't run through a hub, and the total cable length shouldn't exceed 80cm, as longer runs can cause signal degradation.
Some vehicles report the Tbox restarting or losing power unexpectedly — why?+
A handful of car models have factory USB ports with limited power output, which can cause the Tbox to restart or disconnect under load. For these vehicles, we recommend using an external power cable for a stable, dedicated power supply rather than relying on the factory USB port alone.
My car screen is blank after my phone connects. What now?+
First, confirm the Tbox's status light shows a stable connection (usually green). If the light is on but the screen stays blank, try disconnecting and reconnecting the USB cable, restarting your phone's Bluetooth, and confirming your car is on the correct input/source for CarPlay.
Wireless CarPlay won't connect at all. What should I try?+
Work through these steps in order:
  1. Confirm your phone's WiFi and Bluetooth are on and not restricted.
  2. On your phone, tap the exclamation mark next to the Tbox's Bluetooth name and select the CarPlay icon if you missed the initial prompt.
  3. Delete the existing pairing (forget the network on your phone and remove the saved device on the Tbox WiFi menu), then re-pair from scratch.
  4. Restart your phone if the connection still fails.
How do I delete a Tbox pairing to start fresh?+
On the Tbox's main interface, tap the WiFi icon in the upper-left corner and press-and-hold your phone's name to remove it. On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and choose "Forget This Device" for the Tbox's Bluetooth name as well.
Can I use a remote control with Tbox instead of touching the screen?+
If your vehicle's screen isn't touch-enabled, choose the USB variant of your Tbox model — it has an extra USB port that lets you plug in a wireless keyboard or remote-style controller to navigate the Android interface without touch input.

Orders & Shipping

What to expect after you place an order.

How long does shipping take?+
Orders are processed within 1–3 business days before shipping, excluding weekends and public holidays. You'll get a shipping confirmation email once your order leaves the warehouse, followed by tracking details shortly after.
Why might my order processing take longer than expected?+
Processing can be delayed if your shipping address is flagged for review as a security precaution — this helps protect your payment information. In some cases, we may request proof of identification matching the billing details before the order ships.
Does the package include English instructions?+
Yes, every Tbox ships with an English instruction sheet included in the box.
How do I track my order?+
Once your tracking number is issued, you can follow your shipment's progress by entering it on a parcel tracking site. Tracking data can take 1–3 days to sync after the number is first issued, so don't worry if there's no movement immediately.
What's the return policy?+
Standard return and exchange terms apply within the return window from delivery. Reach out through the contact page with your order number and our support team will walk you through the process.
Do I need to choose a region-specific version when ordering?+
Yes — many Tbox models are offered in separate "US & Canada" and "Global" (rest of world) versions, which differ in 4G network band support. Choosing the version that matches where you'll actually use the device ensures the built-in SIM connectivity works correctly.
